Head Chair - Gil Weitzman
|
My name is Gil Weitzman, and I am 15 years old. I am a student at Stonehill International School in Bangalore. However, I am Israeli, and have grown up in 5 different countries. In my free time, I either play football for a semi-pro football club here in Bangalore or go down rabbit holes of history, economics, and international relations (geopolitics). I have participated in five conferences as a delegate and have won awards in four of them. I have served as chair twice, and got the best-co chair award in one of them.
The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) is a committee that I care deeply about. As I have had first-hand experience with refugees due to my upbringing in a conflict zone, due to that I have a personal connection to the committee and the issues it seeks to resolve. As a chair, I prefer diplomatic, structured debates; however, I also enjoy fast-paced, exciting debates where we can take some creative risks. Please come prepared with appropriate research, confidence, and the willingness to challenge one another to work together on developing solutions. I look forward to seeing you at NISCMUN 2026. Good luck! |
