Head ChairGreetings Distinguished delegates and honored Guests.
My name is Matt, a 10th grade student studying here at NISC, and I am honored to serve as your Head Chair for the Security Council at this year's NISC SEAME&I Model United Nations conference. The Security Council, as one of the six primary sectors of the United Nations, is dedicated to promoting peace when it is disturbed through fruitful debates and meaningful collaboration. In this year's conference, our focus will be on the ongoing conflict in the Central African Republic and the critical issue of illegal arms export to sanctioned countries. Given that both topics directly challenge the principles of peace, it is imperative that we approach them with determination and an open mindset. Our collective responsibility in the Security Council is to delve into the intricacies of these crises and propose new, yet effective solutions. I remember my time as a delegate in the Security Council, and I recall the competitive nature of this committee and the heated debates along with it. I expect no less at this year’s conference! Thank you, and I look forward to meeting each one of you in person later in March. |
